Good lord...

It's good that I know this woman was not representative of all women in the Army. But its ones like this that make me understand the point of view that women have no business being in the military. Some of the highlights-

She was a cheerleader in high school. She had a white poodle named Skylar whose ears and tail she had dyed pink. She had her Mustang custom painted pink and purple to match a Barbie car she owned as a child. She loved fashion, especially pink clothes.

Lawal recalled her surprise when she learned that her daughter had married Victor Jones, a former soldier who lives in Bowie. She said her daughter was terrified to be in Iraq and planned to leave the military as soon as she could. Lawal also said her daughter was not cut out to be a soldier and tried to hide her fear during their telephone calls, including their last one, on Aug. 6, when Samuels called to wish her mother a happy birthday.

Even in Iraq, Samuels did not abandon her love of fashion. She went online to order from Victoria's Secret.

"She told me they were overworked, that she sometimes worked 12 hours a day, seven days a week."

While I am sorry that another US soldier has been killed, all I can say is "...wow" No wonder people think women have no business in the military.

Re: Good lord...

Lots of women like the Army because they can behave like men when it comes to sex and 18 months later they get to leave their slutty reputations behind. Any time you see any woman in uniform, there is a high likelihood that she is a slut. Not that there's anything wrong with that.

I find myself amused by the possibility that I might be one of the two you were referring to. Therefore, if you didn't mean to include me, would you be kind enough to pretend that you did? Thank you.

Re: Good lord...

Escher-

I confess, at first, I swore. Then I realized that you were not worthy of being the first cause for me to publicly swear on the open forum. My grandmother, my aunt, my three female cousins, all service members, would have looked at you with pity, and attempted to reeducate you. They were ladies. Ladies who served their country with a dignity and pride that I very nearly besmirched. Fortunately, I dont think that anyone by 2.Doh saw it. I will, however, leave you with this, not that it will do any good.

After the war ended, Albert Speer, head of Nazi war production, observed, "How wise you were to bring your women into your military and into your labor force. Had we done that initially, as you did, it would have affected the whole course of the war. We would have found out as you did, that women are equally effective, and for some skills, superior to males."

Before you get any idea that I have not made the effort to follow in their footsteps, I assure you that is not the case, as several here can attest. So I guess that makes me one of those "sluts" you pointedly address.

Re: Good lord...

Dancer, I think you mean to edit your last sentence.

I've never been in service, and now that I'm married I can't remember whether I ever acted irresponsibly.  However if a guy like me had happened in that misspent youth to bump into girls in uniform now and then, he might find them very accomodating.

Those might just be jag girls though.

Since you seem to have mistaken me for someone who crumbles at the first sign of self-righteous cuntyness, please allow me to disabuse you of that notion. I am most assuredly not.

Furthermore, since you seem to have a queasiness about public profanity, I will be happy to carry your weight for you.

Don't be such an an uppity fucking drama queen, mmmkay?

And if you were in the service, then yes... You probably were one of those sluts I was talking about. And before you bore me with protestations to the contrary, or even worse, with more boring stories about your honorable ancestors, please try to remember something.
YOU were the one who attached negative connotations to recreational sex. Not me.
So please....

And as long as I am scolding....
Farve, there are few things that a person can do in this life that are more unseemly than making statements that imply military service that never occurred.

Wow, what a flaming prick.

Riiiiight, repeated use of the word "slut" is a -positive- connotation.  You'd piss me off if it weren't so bloody obvious that you're deliberately trolling.

And for the record?  I will personally feel honored to absorb the full weight of being labelled the "coward" by requesting that the flaming prick in question be banned.  Cause if this board is indeed "insulated" from leprous cankerous orifices like that MC guy, I prefer to remain insulated.

Re: Good lord...

You know,  I recall actually thinking you were quite smart when I first met you. Then I realized that you were merely well informed.

For the record, what I am doing is not trolling. You simply assume that it is because of the same failure of imagination that forms the basis of my first criticism.

EDIT: Oh, I almost forgot. You aren't a coward because you want me banned. You also aren't a coward because you enjoy being insulated. The REASON you are a coward is because you fear what you don't understand.

But don't worry...
Matt likes you, so you can't be a complete jackass. Just a minor one.

What, I don't understand you?  Please.  You don't even understand yourself, seeing as you can claim you're not a troll while simultaneously sporting a signature line that proudly asserts the fact that you are one.  Or do you think troll means something other than someone who goes on a board to deliberately piss people off with the intent of getting banned?

If I owed her an apology, I wouldn't need a walking cliche like you to either inform me of that fact or tell me what to do.

You're so busy grunting and beating your chest that you don't even know what your babbling about. And you clearly didn't bother to read anything I've posted.

Your main failing for as long as I've known you has been that you decide what you want to believe and then search for ways to support that belief.

Which is why I'm smiting you. That, plus the fact that it's the closest I can come to the good swift kick in your fourth point of contact that you've been needing for YEARS.

Re: Good lord...

Apparently you have me at a disadvantage, seeing as I don't know who you are, and as far as I can tell, you signed up on this board a week or two ago, a week or two in which I've been very much inactive.

And yet here you are, claiming you know me so well.  For YEARS, in fact.

1)  Which means you've either been lurking, snarling your lip and stroking your ego knowing that you could tear apart our silly misconceptions if you deigned to actually, you know, argue your position... but so much easier to hold onto your own superior positions if they're never challenged, right? or

2)  You -have- posted, under another name, but now choose to hide under an alias.  At some point, you acquired too much baggage (most likely due to being the colossally arrogant prick you clearly are), so you decided to hide behind the anonymity of the internet, and then return insulting and smiting everyone within reach.

Either one of those possibilities is so brave and all.  Really.  How it shames me to be dubbed a coward by someone as manly and secure as yourself.

Now, if you'll kindly let us know who the 10% are that are holding out, we'll ban them.
