As you know she was guest hosting the view yesterday. This was a rare chance to see her in a non-political light. It made me realize that few people have a sense of who she is. So I'm sharing with you so you get a better idea of her.
As noted on the show, the media quotes her statement on being proud of America, they continually misquote her. She said "for the first time in my adult lifetime I am really proud of my country", but the media continually reports it as "for the first time in my adult lifetime I am proud of my country" which totally removes the context of her meaning and totally mis-characterizes what she said.
This is just one example of active efforts to distort her. Here is her appearance.

Having seen this, what is your opinion of her? Has it changed?

I seriously wish you could read newspapers from the perspective of a conservative for just one day.
You would then have a clue what the words "totally removes the context" and "totally mis-characterizes what she said" mean.
Given this and the other examples you have presented in which you think such things have happened, you clearly don't even remotely comprehend the concepts.
By the way, are you going to claim that reports saying that she called BHO "pathetic" are a gross mischaracterization too?

And I wish you could read newspapers in a remotely politically agnostic way. But no one is perfect.
That said, the msm did twist the meaning of her words as did the political opposition. Has this softened your view of Mrs. Obama?

AFAIK she didn't hold a press conference after these gaffes to clear up the issue, even though the opposition made considerable political hay out of it. It's my estimation that she doesn't like this country in it's current state. It strikes me that she and her husband are in fact elitist and only care for what their vision of the country should be, rather than what it is. Just in case you were wondering, that would be a country more akin to the Soviet Union than that of a truly free state.
Already there is talk from the left for silencing talk radio and attempting to silence right leaning blogs, and any opposing viewpoint. Can you say Venezuela? It just reinforces my theory that Leftists only care for free speech when it suits their political purposes.
Obama is a naive elitist who will send this country in the wrong direction. As an aside, I'm convinced John McCain will do the same thing, just not as fast as the runaway beer truck that is BO.

I can't agree. Surprised?
If you can't be really proud of your country until your spouse is running for president, it is fair to comment on anger and egotism that displays.

MOST people, better than 70% at last polling do not like this country in its current state. Hence the ground swell to change it and its course. The "elitist" tag implies you have been washed in right leaning media. NEWSFLASH: They are ALL elite. You do not, can not make a successful bid for this level of office if you are not elite in some way.
You are demonizing them for wanting to change the country's course, fulfill their vision for it, remove its current condition. Here's a hint for you: These are the main reasons ANYONE usually ever runs for president.
Soviet Union? Hyperbole. You obviously don't know how Solviet Russia was.

NEWSFLASH:
This country is already in the wrong direction. Or are you of the opinion high fuel costs, cost of living outpacing rate of pay, being beholden to China or the Middle East's whim are the correct course?

I would agree with you if that were true.
It seemed to me her statement was more along the lines of the upswing in political participation.

She doesn't know what she is saying? Or would need to have been raised in grittiest most urban Chicago to understand what she -really- meant?

whah whah whah....
She said nothing remotely to tie her national pride specifically to Barack. Myself and others on both sides have read it in a moderate way. I understand why you can't do that.
We saw it as, proud stemming from the ground swell support, the participation, the likelyhood America has finally seen past race in choosing its leader. You choose to read it as a selfish personalization on her part, despite those obvious elements I stated. That says something.

I could be wrong, but Evo might be refering to the attempt to renew the
"Fairness" Doctrine.
Durbin, Clinton, Feinstein & Kerry were all for renewal.

He seemed to be linking that to the Obamas' run for office.....
FTR, I'm against it for free speech reasons. Media ownership rules however need to be rolled back.

Lot's of folks on both sides will find areas they disagree with their candidate.
It unfortunately comes down to how hard you want to squeeze when plugging
your nose in the voting booth.

True. Obviously I'm voting Obama. I do not agree with him 100%. But I feel he is a far better choice than McCain, whom I feel lost his way after 2000 when I was interested in backing him. My ideal canidate does not exist.

She seems like a racist elitist to me but for now I find her more appealing than Tareeza Heinz.

Out of curiosity,
How did you right-leaners receive Fox news' "terrorist fist bump" and the reference of Mrs Obama being Barack's "baby's mama"?

Deftly stated.

Except her public proclamation during her husband's campaign, that this is the first instance of her real pride in the country, a pride not triggered by Colin Powell, or Condolezza Rice, or our victory over the soviets, or the liberation of Grenada or any other national acheivement.

I am inclined to take her at her word, just as I was inclined to take Wright at his. I am disinclined to make excuses for BHO and his wife. On that we may never agree.

Her explanation of her comment is in the View clip. Knock yourself out champ.

What's this? She came up with some different explanation of what she actually said after her statement was widely comndemned?
That certainly makes an inability to be really proud of your own country until your husband runs for president less loathsome!
I wonder if she will turn out to be to BHO as Hillary was to WJC.

You can't even quote her correctly, so why argue? At least get it right before you start.

We'll just have to agree to disagree.

The longest journey begins with but a single step.
This country is already in the wrong direction. Or are you of the opinion high fuel costs, cost of living outpacing rate of pay, being beholden to China or the Middle East's whim are the correct course?
I seem to remember the Democrats promising to bring the price of oil down. In fact it was a major platform in their return to control over the two houses of congress. So, here we are 2 years later and the price has gone up almost $1.50. Would you mind explaining to me who's taking the country in the wrong direction. From what I remember of my high school government class is that most policies (see oil) are written by the Legislative branch, and then approved by the Executive. However, I don't remember seeing within the last two years a single energy plan which actually adresses producing more energy. But hell my memory might be a little fuzzy.
And sure, there's nothing like crippling economic growth with obscene tax increases and a failed energy policy to send us surging ahead of the middle east and china again.
