the turmoils and riots of tibet

In history, the turmoils and riots of tibet were almost aroused by the lamas in temples. On one hand, it's the result of the lasting effect from the overseas tibetan independent forces to the lamas in tibet. This kind of effect was carried out by means of the religious loyalty. In fact, some overseas senior Buddhas are just the "political monks". On the other hand, it's also the result of the special condition of the tibet temple.

It may be much easier for us to understand that by making some comparison between the churchs in US and temples in Tibet.

In US, there are only several clergy working in a church. Although there may be tens of workers working during some church events, most of them are volunteers, and other accountists, gardeners, cleaners and maintainers are all hired by the church. There is only a loose interested relations between church and these volunteers and external workers. While in the tibet temples, the number of lama is  huge. Some temples even have thousands of lamas and offer them the basic living resouces. Those lamas are living together and have formed a closed relationship of common interest. In such a huge, united, closed interest group, once an important person instigates religion emotions for some purpose, numerous lamas may be affected, and develop into group efficiency.

According to the US law, clergy is a job. Children are forbidden to become a clergy. Church can open a school, but the school must be charged by the local education bureau and the teaching materials and courses are same with other ordinary schools. Only a few graduates will engage in religious affairs. While in the tibet temples, it's very popular to see little lamas under 10 years old. They are taught by the elder lamas, and are easy to form an inveteracy mind and idea totally different from the real society, which may lead those children to be a new generation of national separatists.

What's more, in US, the policemen are responsible to the security of church. While in tibet, every temple has its special lama with iron sticks to manage the temple's security issues. They are fend by the temples and ineviably listen to the abbots of the temples. That means temple is allowed to have its own informal armed force. In US, church is a unprofit organization, must register to the state government, and has no right of printing and publishing. In tibet, however, besides donations, ticket income and the government financial aids, temples can operate business, planting industry, breeding industry, and even can print materials, which are all tax free. These interests cause the forming of the "rights recovery" idea.

Therefore, the reform of those tibetan duddhism temples must be carried out. Only in this way can the temples become the positive factors to the social stability, but not the unrest elements causing the social turmoils and riots.
