Seriously, is this a trick question?
Next you're going to ask if beige would be a suitable color...

Corolla or Civic if you can't afford a Camry or Accord.
Can't Seabird ask her own questions, btw?

It's for a family member (ever see a sheep drive, so fucking cool), so yeah I'll have to maintain it ![]()
What do you think about a 2000 Chevy Blazer 2wd with 99k miles? All the yotas in that price range are early 90s m.y.

Blazers get horrible gas mileage. Just an FYI

Moot point, she drives all of six miles a day. The price of petrol and American's sudden sense of moral love for mudder earth has made the SUV market a haven for cheap bastards like me. Essentially I'm looking for something that will be reliable with cold AC.

Ahhhahahahaha!
Brenda - If she wants cheap -and- newer, you might be able
to find a late 90's Malibu.

Plan on a new transmission in the near future.

That's what I was worried about. Found out that windstars seem to grenade a transmission around 100k miles as well. Are all 90s era ford crap with transmissions? What about a ford contour? I drove one of those years ago and really liked it, found a 99 and a 2000 in the price range.... as well as dodge intrepid and the aforementioned explorer.

I know this is probably not applicable to anyone else, but my brother (landscaper and farmer) needed a real work truck so they sold his old Blazer and her newish (2005-6) Outback and bought a 2004 longbed F250 Powerstroke Dually for him and a 1998 Golf 2.0 for her.
Before you laugh at the Golf, it only has 60k miles, is immaculate, and they only paid $2800 for it.
p.s. His truck is beastly, but it's about as bad on gas as the Blazer was so he also just bought a 250cc Ninja.

That's really not a bad suggestion.
My Mk3 was very reliable (~128,000 trouble free miles).
They're easy to work on, too. The current owner commented on how
much room there is under the hood. He likes to be able to set his tool
box, radio, & coffee cup under there while he's working on it.
