Saw it Saturday, it was REALLY good. I was almost disappointed that Ledger's performance was so perfect, because he won't be able to do the sequel.

I liked it, didn't LOVE it.

I thought ledger did a good job, but not super awesome.
There was too much going on, it was like three plots kinda rolled into one.
A little too dragged out.

I felt like almost everything Michael Cain's character said was political in nature, at least relating to current global politics.

Joker was the deranged psychopath without remorse that he should have been. Ledger's performance was phenomenal. Not better than Old Jack, mind you, but able to stand on its own.

I saw it and really enjoyed it.

My mouth dropped when Ledger made the pencil disappear.

I was really put off that Two-Face was killed, as he would have made the logical 'main villain' for the next film since Ledger unfortunately can't reprise his role.

They said DENT died, not Two-Face.

Think about that.

I don't think they could bring back a better penguin than danny davito.

Just saw it tonight.  With T on this one.  It was freaking awesome.  And Ledger was way better than Nicholson.  I think for me the problem was that I could never forget while watching him that it was, in fact, Jack.  Watching Ledger, I felt I was watching The Joker. In Burton's version, I felt I was watching Jack Nicholson playing The Joker.

I too hope Two Face comes back, and I think the actor did a -phenomenal- job with that character as well.  I really hope he makes a return, as in the comics, Two Face's particular psychosis generally made for the best exchanges with Batman, IMO.  You can do a lot of great stories around his dual nature and how it's a distorted mirror of Bruce Wayne/Batman's.  We didn't really see his good side much after his transformation, but given the circumstances and how short a time we got to see him after that point, that's not all that unreasonable.  I hope he comes back in later films and they play that up some more.  He was certainly a -way- better Two Face than Tommy Lee Jones, IMO.

Evo has a point about the Penguin.  Much as I disliked the Burton films, it's hard to picture a faithful rendition of the penguin better than DeVito's.  The writing for him could've been better, but Devito did as well as I think was possible with what he was given.

Burton's films were definitely better than Schumacher's, but neither is even in the same playing field as the last two films.  Nolan is to Burton/Schumacher as Burton/Schumacher were to the Adam West batman, heh.

Yeah, I agree.  That's part of why I think he's a bit overrated.  He's got a very limited scope - he can really only play one role.  He plays that role -really really well-, and he can make himself likable even when he's being a psychotic killer which ain't easy to do, so he does deserve some of the adulation he gets, but to me a genuinely good actor can do better.  DeNiro for example has equal fame, but he can play all sorts of different roles very well and differently enough that I don't automatically associate each of his roles with every other role he's ever done.  "The Mission" != "Taxi Driver".

We saw this yesterday at a 9am IMAX. OMFreakinG!!! The movie was so good that I don't think I want to see a third. I just can't see any way for them to do it any better.

Went and saw it today.  A fucking kick ass movie.  Ledger was excellent.  Bale gave an outstanding performance.  It was nice and dark.  I loved how at the end they returned the bat to vigilante status.  A real return to how the bat was intended.

I have read that there was very little to no CGI. I suspect that whatever there was, might have just been some enhancement - not full blown effects. The GF had one little nit to pick. Since she specializes in lab and hospital architecture, she mentioned that the building used for Gotham General Hospital was waaaaay too small. She said it looked more like a suburban clinic, or outpatient facility. I also thought that it looked too new and modern for an old city hospital. Think Chicago's Cook County... So I did some digging around and found out that they actually purchased the old Brach's Candy Factory and blew the damn thing up. I can't believe they bought a whole office building and factory and just blew it up.
