OEM Porsche parts?

My buddy has a 1990 928 V8, and needs new front rotors.

The local dealer quoted him about $150 each.

Any ideas?

Re: OEM Porsche parts?

So far, Taylor Automotive has the best online price for the Zimmerman rotors... just over $100 each.

Plus, they ship free for anything over $50.

Re: OEM Porsche parts?

Tell your buddy to use google and stop bothering us with this crap.

He owns a Porsche and shouldn't nickel and dime parts or complain about their prices.

I found some sweet Chinese mae rotors for 38.99/ea.

Re: OEM Porsche parts?

Well, I've been googling for several minutes and can't find anything about what rotors were OEM.

Not sure it really matters anyway. Zimmermans are fine, aren't they?

Re: OEM Porsche parts?

I saw somewhere that Brembo was OEM for the 944.

Maybe it differs by model.

Boo fuckin' hoo.  Front rotors for my V8q are, at the cheapest, $250 a piece

sorry, in the first post i had a typo, i meant ATE / Teves, not ATS / Teves. the "E" is right by the "S". oops!

however, i'm about  300% sure about that.  ATE / Teves has been doing Porsche brakes for several decades.  there are a TON of companies that make products for Porsche.  Fischer, Hella, Bosch, ZF-Sachs, Siemens, Alcoa, Mannesmann, Saint-Gobain-Sekurit, Ricardo, LUK, and dozens of other companies build a large variety of components for Porsche.  more just assembles these sub-components and throws them onto their chassis.

ATE / Teves was the original manufacturer of the rotors.  that company no longer exists but Conti-Teves is basically the same people.  every time i've had to replace brakes they came in either an ATE / Teves box, or a Conti-Teves one.  assuming the world hasn't turned upside down, i can't see why Brembo would be manufacturing rotors when the Conti-Teves ones are stacked mile-high in warehouses everywhere.

944 brake calipers were made by ATE / Teves.  Brembo did some brake calipers for the Porsche race cars, and i think they might have made the brakes for the 944 Turbo with M030 option.  i know for a fact though that just about all the rest of the FEWC Porsches used ATE / Teves brakes.
